Neck Pain - A Fascia Junction

The neck is perhaps the most complex fascia junction of the body. It joins the fascia of the gut to the fascia of the arms and even the heart together. In my experience cracking a wry neck may not be really doing the body a favour long term. It may  not really be considering underlying issues, and letting them go untreated can have longer term health consequences. The neck is also the place where the body goes from a negative pressure in the thorax to  a positive pressure in the cranium. 
Anatomically the neck holds our thyroid for metabolism.
It holds the root of the tongue, a bone called the hyoid. This bone is connected to the shoulder by muscles which are directly related to stress and relaxation regulation (Omhyoid Muscle) and the Accessorius nerve (of the Vagus).
Breathing has a direct bearing on the neck as the scalene muscles (tonic muscles which are there to hold position) start from the ribs. Aslo the main nerve supplying the diaphragm come from the neck (Phrenic N. C3.). The ribs and thorax are making about 3 million movements a day and so it needs to flow well to be efficient.
